Abstract

The goal of science production is the discovery of realities and improving the human situation that plagiarism and using unethical means are not compatible with that. Most academic researchers have concluded that plagiarism is a serious violation of publishing ethics. In recent decades, the scientific community has faced with many concerns due to fast growth of plagiarism. One of the most important causes of that, especially in our country is that our authors are unfamiliar with plagiarism, Although plagiarism has spread but it isn't consistent with the principles of science. Nowadays some media have expressed concern about the fraud that includes misconduct and data manipulation by popular scientists. The prevalence rate of plagiarism has been reported in different studies that is differtent based on the field, country, and educational level and time. The goal of this study was the review of the scientific concepts related to plagiarism, factors and roots, prevalence in the world, detecting methods and strategies used to deal with in order to increase the understanding of instructors and students.
