Abstract
MnWO4 nanoparticles (NPs) were produced through a co-precipitation procedure using various sugars as capping agents. In the course of the study the effect of the presence of each sugar (e. g. glucose, lactose and starch) on the morphology and particle size of the NPs were studied. The formation of pure crystallized MnWO4 NPs occurred when the precursor was heat-treated at 500 degrees C in air for 60 min. The NPs were evaluated through X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, vibrating sample magnetometers diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, and energy dispersive X-ray microanalysis. The produced NPs were found to have an excellent photo properties in the photo-induced degradation of methyl orange, with an efficiency of around 87.
