Abstract

Infectious diseases are considered very important via three points; incidence status, mortality, and expenses. The prevalence rate of 5, mortality rate of 3 and approximately 6 million dollars annually made it noticeable to scientific study on. It is indicated that Nurses' knowledge regarding hospital infection and factors influencing it reduces its incidence and prevalence. Sixty four supervisors in three selected military hospitals in Tehran have been studied in a descriptive epidemiological study via crosssectional method. A researcher- made questionnaire was applied to collect the data. The validity and reliability of the questionnaire were proved by the experts and Cronbach's alpha (r=0.90), respectively. Both descriptive and analytical tests such as ANOVA were employed to analyze the data. On the basis of the findings more than 51percent of the subjects were male, 84.4 had a B.Sc. degree and more than 87 were married. With regard to the underlined issue, 50 of the applicants were educated about hospital infectious and more than 54 attended in related Seminars. The differences among supervisors' knowledge in the studied hospitals were statistically significant (p≤0.05). More than 64 of the study population, in general, was good informed with respect to hospital infectious. According to the results of the present study and some other similar ones, importance of the issue, hospital infectious, patients' status in each studied hospital and the circumstances of infections' transformation making precise decisions regarding this issue by hospitals' managers seems very important. © 2010 EuroJournals Publishing, Inc.
