The extracted studies were combined altogether and the risk ratio was calculated. In addition, additional analysis was conducted at the end. Results: The results showed that job strain as a risk factor for musculoskeletal pain was 1.62. The risk ratio is equal to 1.38 in men and 1.28 in women. Begg (P = 0.629) and Egger (P = 0.251) tests were not significant but trim-and-fill method imputed 9 missing studies. Conclusions: Job strain was a risk factor for physical health and increased the risk of musculoskeletal pain. Therefore, it seems psychologically healthy work environment is essential for the prevention of health problems. (c) 2019 The Royal Society for Public Health. Published by Elsevier Ltd.
