Abstract
Regenerative medicine has been increased for helping crucial diseases and injuries. Planarians have appeared as the best template for studying regeneration. A variety of stem cell properties can be studied in their environment, and planarians have been sleeted as an excellent model for surging regeneration. Planarian’s communication has not been well identified, and all attentions have been focused on four types of signaling mechanisms: cell signaling, gap junctional communication, ion fluxes and nervous system signals. The goal of recognizing these signaling pathways is that new molecular targets would be identified and use them in regenerative medicine. Planarians are the classical model for studying the signals which regulate cell proliferation and differentiation. In this review, we want to present the critical role of signal pathways in regenerative medicine. Some significant signal pathways are explained such as EGFR, Hh, Wnt, Notum, TOR, Mex3 homolog and β-catenin. © 2021, The National Academy of Sciences, India.
